Subject:Weekend plans
Time:08:51 pm
All right, so, if I am understanding correctly, is this the weekend wherein the team gets together and does stuff again?

If so, I should note that I will be out all of Sunday, due to the sudden presence of another appointment. (You know when you go to the doctor for a checkup and everything is absolutely 100% fine and therefore they don't need to see you again at all for any reason for an entire year? Yeah, I miss that.) However, Friday evening and all day Saturday are fine. What did we do last time, something like 12:30ish Albuquerque time on Saturday? I could totally do that again.

As for what's on the menu, we have the Undertale good ending, and one or two Hatoful manga chapters. Do we have a plan for what we want to do and how we want to go about it?

One thing I will bring up is that I've seen suggestions that we should handle Undertale by just reloading the last save file and redoing the final battle, but I kind of wanted to start over and do the whole thing again, for a few reasons:
1) We missed a ton of dialogue last time (such as all the other cell phone options, some rooms we didn't enter, etc.)
2) One or two extra comments that appear on the not-first play-through (though you'll probably just lump those in with the pile of stuff we already haven't seen anyway)
3) I can't remember if the variant of the good ending I'm hoping to get requires a perfect pacifist run. If it does, then we kind of messed that up by eating the Vegetoid.

As for the content we would be repeating, I was thinking of just ... eh, whatever random improv, do an alternate take on the lines, have unrelated banter and commentary on other aspects while the conversation runs unattended in the background, whatever. If David is editing these videos, then he can cut that stuff out later anyway. If not, and he's just dumping the Hangout file itself and calling it good, then he won't have to do any laborious editing. This is what I call a win-win situation. :D

That's assuming we go along with my plan and redo it from the beginning, of course. If people would rather just disregard all that, do it from the last save just to get the game over with quickly, and let the missed stuff remain forever missed, then ... well, okay.

Also, I know Raven wanted to bow out of Undertale at this point, which is also okay. Mostly I'm just trying to figure out what the plan is at this point. Hatomanga warmup, then Raven leaves and we go through all of Undertale again? Or we just do it from the last save and Raven hangs around because it's only like five minutes at that point? Or whatever other combination of options?

Going through the demo all over again is a bit more than I was expecting, though we can fast-forward through most of it and see only the parts we missed, and keep any good dialogue that comes up... I think even going through it while knowing what I'm doing will make it much faster, so I'm willing to try. Cutting out vast swathes of blankness is my favourite form of editing. I will, of course, have to deal with the awful automute feature again - I'll set up a joypad beforehand just in case it helps. Other than that, I'd love to start our reading of the Xaq-edited manga!

I may mess things up this week as I'm going to attend a wedding on Saturday - I am, however, around on both Thursday and Friday if either of those work for everyone.

Oh, a wedding! Nice. I can't do Thursday, but Friday is good. What time is best for you to start? Assuming we have a 2 hour session, I'd like to start no later than 10 PM EST. (do people have a holiday on Friday? my BF apparently does.)

I think a controller should work well. Do you think we need to assemble a little earlier to work out any possible issues, or will the half hour setup be fine? If you need help, message me - I've done it before and I might be able to troubleshoot.

An update! I checked again and it starts in the evening, at six - so if we can start at 12:30 (2:30 EST), then that will work for me. I'm hoping to God that only half an hour setup will be required at most - were you thinking of using joy2key to translate joypad presses into keyboard ones?

Okay, so ASSEMBLE at 2, record at 2:30 EST? Sounds ok to me, let's see what the others say.

yes, joy2key should do the trick. It should be a pretty painless setup, just map it to whatever feels comfortable for you... As I mentioned before you may want to bundle it with xmouse so you have less to potentially handle per session - you can use one of the swively sticks as a mouse, and A and B as left and right click. I'll take a look at my emulation box today and if it would help I can just send you my settings?

It sounds easy enough to set up, but getting your settings sounds good, if you could :)

Wow, it's been a long time since I even used my emulating computer. Apparently I was in the middle of dealing with some kind of bug and I never got around to fixing it. Certain programs were exhibiting strange symptoms and I thought maybe something (xpadder or xmouse) was interfering with joytokey so I deleted all the mouse stuff and.... yes. So all I have is Joytokey right now, if I'm not busy this afternoon I'll see if I can get to the bottom of it.

In the meantime, here's my profile. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9893046/Windows.cfg

Just drop it into the joytokey directory and start it up. You may have to select the profile manually. Keep joytokey running while you're using it, obviously... I'll message you tonight once I get everything straight, I think, if that's ok?

EDIT: joytokey seems to cover mouse movements which I had forgotten. disregard that, no other software needed. since i troubleshot my own problem i'll further streamline it and send you a new copy later

I made a special configuration just for Undertale. Dpad to navigate, A and B are standard, Start is menu, and Left Shoulder is Quit (hold it down, remember). Make sure your controller is mapped similarly - you'll need the USB gamepad configuration open to see that you're mapping to the right buttons. I added a mouse function just for the hell of it, but it isn't set up to click yet. It'll be an easy modification, each button can do up to 3 things.

Again, just drop it in the Joytokey directory and select it before we play.

On a sidenote, while playtesting I avoided Flowey's Friendliness Pellets. I suggest you do the same, it was *hilarious*. Since we already have a game file, you might even get some wisecrack about how you've learned.

Thanks, that's all set up and tested now - it's weird moving the mouse with the analogue stick :) We'll see how Google reacts to it!

Pff. You beat me to it, I was going to make a message today :P

Yes, the plan was for Saturday assembly at 2:30 EST, for recording at 3. (Yes, 12:30 for you.) (EDIT: oops looks like we have to reschedule, what is everyone's availability on Friday?)

I don't mind playing through it again, especially since there's additional dialogue. Now that we know what we're up against I think we will be better prepared and will have a more streamlined experience in general. And hopefully my internet connection will behave itself.

I think the perfect peaceful ending requires the Vegetoids to live.

How long did the hatomanga take us last time? 10 minutes? If we decide to do only one this weekend, then what will be doing for our next session?

The edited version of the Hitori Shrine Visit video was 13:17, so it took us at least that long.

I imagine doing the first 2 episodes of the manga would take about 30 minutes.

As far as scheduling goes, my usual "completely free Friday and Saturday" stipulation still stands; in fact, in about 2 hours I'm going to have about 5 days of free time. X_x;

Let's pencil in 20 minutes for each manga chapter then? It really depends on, then, how we want to do Undertale - like an extras reel, or a fully playthrough (which apparently has new dialogue)?

Supposing we had to go for Friday this week, as I thought we might have to earlier - what's the earliest you're available? The latest we could go (stopping around midnight EST) is about 6 PM your time, so if it comes up again, are Fridays doable at all?

The earliest I'd be able to manage on Friday would be about 2PM Eastern, or 10 AM my time. Even on my days off I try to be up and about by then.

Per Raven (see below), Friday may yet be the way to do it, and I won't be available until 6 my time. That should still give us a couple hours, though?

Edit: Also, unless I'm doing my math wrong, 6 PM Xaq time would be ten yours, not midnight. Did you mean that we actually have until your midnight (8 Xaq/10 me), or until 6 Xaq/8 me/10 you?

Aiming to stop recording by my midnight yes. I can go longer if we need to stretch it, apparently it's just going to be me in the house on Friday and I can be a coffee achiever as long as I want.

I never said I had Friday off; just that I can get online as soon as I get home from work and be free anytime after that because I'm not going anywhere Saturday. That would make me available from 6 PM my time (4 Xaq/8 you/David/Budgie) until all hours of the morning for all I care (other people's "have to be done by ___" deadlines kick in way before mine does.)
