I make too many Smash Bros posts
Kjorteo's official "Fuck this stage" (Tier 1) list:

* Mushroomy Kingdom
* PictoChat
* Skyworld
* WarioWare, Inc.

Kjorteo's official "No, seriously, fuck this stage and fuck anyone who actually likes it" (Tier 2) list:

* All of the sample stage builder stages
* Flat Zone 2
* Rumble Falls

And just to be at least slightly positive, some stages I actually like:

* Battlefield
* Delfino Plaza
* Distant Planet
* Frigate Orpheon
* Smashville

I agree with most of it. Rumble Falls sucks because of the spikes that freaking fling you super far if you touch them. Heh. And Flat Zone 2 for the same reasons with those little firefighter guys or whatever when it becomes the three platforms in the middle. Ugh.

I was playing random stages over at a friends awhile back and we had four people on that sample builder large stage.. and it pretty much became all of us sitting at the top because it was so large and weird. :/

The spikes on Rumble Falls are pretty much a touch-and-die instant kill, even at 0%. The unfairness of that is even further heightened when you consider how the scrolling of the stage means you have to keep moving, and a lot of spikes are placed directly in your way such that you can't see them if you're near the top of the screen trying to keep too far ahead of the scrolling. (Especially that one right on top of that one ladder.) I haven't seen such "Keep moving keep moving keep moving--haha, oops, you didn't see the obstacle you were moving too fast and too far ahead to be able to see and now you're dead" sadism in level design since original Genesis Sonic games. Plus, it's horrifically unfair to Pokemon Trainer, since you have to be on the ground to switch Pokemon, the game sometimes lags or has to load or something when you do (it just mysteriously takes longer than usual for the next Pokemon to come out,) and the auto-scrolling certainly doesn't wait for that to be concluded before gleefully scrolling the platform with the unopened Poké Ball off the stage, so that it's literally an instant death when you finally finish the switch.

As for Flat Zone 2, that's an example of a neat nostalgia reference that turns out to be terrible as far as actual gameplay is concerned when trying to work around it. The worst part has to be when it switches to the "Lion" game (three platforms in the middle, guys with chairs on either side.) This is a reference to an actual Game & Watch game where lions wandered back and forth in the "cages" in the middle and you controlled the guys with chairs, and basically had to move in front of them and block them every time they reached one side or the other. It's an awesome reference, and I applaud them for their creativity. However, the play testers must not have noticed just how many fucktons of damage the chairs do to you, and how the knockback (especially with the heightened damage) always seem to send you into the other chair, which always seems to send you back into the first, rendering you unable to do anything but watch helplessly as your character impersonates a pinball for a bit, then is eventually flung off the stage to his death. Seriously, I've touched a chair once at about 30% damage, then got rocketed back and forth and finally killed at about 180%, never having had a chance to regain my control or do pretty much anything at all.

Right. Chairs. For some reason I was thinking firefighters, but I haven't played brawl in a bit.. but yeah. Both instances are stupid because indeed, even with very little to no damage you end up just getting completely raped by them or the spikes.

And yeah, the weird lags now and then kind of suck.
